Tips on what to put in your hospital bag.

Don’t forget about Baby and your partners bag too.


Start with you and what you need to pack.

Birth Plan : A couple of copies printed helps, and highlight your key points. One for your chart, one for midwife, and one for your birth partner.

Comfortable clothes : especially important if you are planning on breastfeeding. A nursing bra or comfortable sports bra, loose lightweight pyjama pants. Footwear, your feet may be swollen, pregnancy tights, easily slip on shoes, thongs, slippers, oh and socks to keep your feet warm.

Disposable Underwear : Old underwear will do but disposable underwear is even better because you don’t have to worry about washing once you’re home with your new bub.

Drinks & Snacks : A reusable water bottle, for something else other than water, coconut water, an electrolyte drink.

Phone charging cables : A fully charged phone is must, especially to share those first pics of your new baby (an extra long phone charger is even better to stop you getting up and down.

Portable speaker and your favourite music playlist

Toiletries : Hairbrush, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair ties and face wipes, nursing pads, nipple cream.

Entertainment : music, books, playing cards.

Essentials to pack in your baby’s bag.

Car Seat : an approved infant car seat and installed to meet local regulations.

Clothes: a couple of singlets, sleep suits, beanie and socks. Plus your baby’s going home outfit.

Nappies and wipes : newborn baby size, unscented wipes.

Don’t forget out your partner or support person.

Snacks and Drinks,

Entertainment : books, music and games.

Camera to capture the magical moments.

Phone to share the news with family and friends.

Change of clothes and swimwear, if you are planning a water bath.
